Do you approve of how PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan has handled the Tour's situation with LIV Golf? - No
Nor of Beman, Dey or Finchem. The American PGA Tour has abused its position of power and focused upon it's primary customers = 1) PGA Tour Executives and 2) PGA Tour Players. Note...secondary are "patrons" or consumers, charities, the game of golf, and other tours.
While the American PGA Tour was the Big Dog, they focused upon more money, more tournaments, and more money. The "fall season" and FEDEX discouraged players from participating overseas, and my primary concern here is Australia and the Asian Tours.
The American PGA Tour COULD have built up the other tours, encouraged their stars to play in other countries, grow the game, attract other viewers, and developed a network where the tours fed into the USA PGA Tour AFTER ensuring the other tours had a healthy environment.
The American PGA Tour COULD have developed a good relationship with the LPGA (see the Australian Vic Open as a model).
The American PGA Tour COULD have worked with the USGA and R&A to better manage the equipment that is removing so many excellent golf courses from competition.
But the American PGA Tour has focused upon money and power for its executives and its players. While they've raised a lot of money for charity and I like a lot of the players who are remaining, I will not cry crocodile tears for an organization that is NOW on the weaker end of a relationship.
I wish them well, I hope they survive, I don't like LIV but I don't really care that much about the men's professional sport of golf. The game of golf to me is playing with my wife and friends and whoever shows up on the tee box.
